Website changes...

You may have noticed some changes on our webpages, the background has been changed on all pages now, and some of the links at the top of the page are changing to make it a bit easier to find where you need to go. The ones in bold are the updated/new links, so you can see our progress as it happens. We now have a skype page, one of our new services for 2012, along with study groups, parenting groups and meditations groups. Finally, we now have a small library, and a corresponding webpage (currently under construction), and we will be posting more information about this soon (some information below), so keep checking back, or join us on facebook for the latest news.

Relax and de-stress on our huge beanbags...

relax, de-stress, beanbag psychotherapy

Imagine yourself dropping into a HUGE beanbag, being soooothed by soft warm colour changing lights, drifting off with gentle sounds, and allowing yourself to be guided into a deeeeeep relaxation (don't worry, we will gently wake you when it's time to face the world again).

Our relaxation sessions are great to help you unwind at the end of the day, or perhaps to give yourself a treat whilst the kids are at school, whatever the reason come and try one out for free, and see just how relaxed you can possibly get in the space of an hour. You don't have much to lose, other than your tension and stress. As already mentioned, the first one is free, and then each class will only cost £5. To book up your beanbag (one of six) just give us a ring and we can arrange a class that suits your schedule.

More information about our classes can be found here.

NEW Library...

We have nearly 300 books on psychotherapy, counselling, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, research, and other therapeutically based books. We are in the process of labelling each one and listing them on our website, so they will be available to hire out for 4-6 weeks at a time. In most cases (unless it's a rare book) we will ask for a £20 deposit per book on hiring (returnable), plus a £1 fee for our book fund. For more information you could visit the library page (currently under construction), or give one of us a ring.

Training News...psychotherapy training man with hoops and ball

Ongoing Support will be running a certified 101 Transactional Analysis course in the new year (possibly over two weekends in April), which will be facilitated by a highly qualified and experienced psychotherapist and trainer (TSTA), with us (Dena and Mark) assisting.

The TA 101 is the official introduction to TA, and the resulting qualification is issued by the ITA (Institute of Transactional Analysis). The minimum hours required for a TA 101 is around 12, however we like to offer more information over a longer period of time, this gives us the opportunity to inject a fun element into our training, make it interactive and ensure that each member learns and understands the basic concepts of TA well.

The cost will be £120 for each weekend (so a total of £240) and we have a number of payment options available.

The course will be held at our very comfy training centre, with refreshments provided throughout the day.

We only have 9 places available, so register your interest now. More information will follow, including a course outline, confirmed dates and payment options.

Workshop Dates Announced

With the new training centre starting to take shape, and the plasterer booked in, we are announcing our very first workshops at Ongoing Support. Here are our two flyers:

Transactional Analysis for beginners psychotherapy counselling flyerNeuro Linguistic Programming counselling psychotherapy flyer

Each weekend workshop will cost £80 per person, paid in advance within two weeks of booking (or other payment plan agreed). Register your interest now as places are strictly limited to 8 people per workshop.

We aim to make each workshop both fun and interactive, so prepare to work with others and move about a bit. You will definately learn about yourself and others by the end of each weekend, and these workshops will suit anybody who wants to learn and grow personally or professionally. Keep checking back for more details as we put together a programme outline, and introduce our next workshop for December. In the meantime you could pop over to our new psychobabble blog or check us out on facebook and twitter.

We still have our workshop poll up and running on our psychobabble blog so its not too late to vote for the workshops that you would like to see us run in the future.

Psychobabble Blogging

Have you ever wondered what goes on in the mind of a counsellor or psychotherapist? Well now you can find out. We have just launched our psychobabble blog (July 2011) which you can find here, or by clicking 'psychobabble blogging' near the top of the page. The blog also has a poll about future training workshops, as well as progress on our therapy centre, which we hope will be all completed by September (depending on our plasterer's timetable).

Creating the blog also instigated the change of background which you are now looking at, we like to think it looks quite comfortable, a bit like an oversized sofa you can snuggle down into; and a great metaphor for our relaxed and friendly approach to therapy.

£600 worth of vouchers out now!

There will be 20 of these vouchers floating around Cornwall from today! You can pick yours up today by:

Get yours quick as they are limited and we will only have five running 'live' at any one time!

Update on Ongoing Support's training room

We were hoping to finish our group/training room by the end of March, however its been a lot slower than anticipated and it's still working progress (some of you will already know that we are doing most of the work ourselves).

We are planning to be running training workshops as soon as the room is finished, so please start letting us know what kind of training you would like to see us run. Initially we will be focussing on 'professional development workshops' for counselling and psychotherapy students, and practitioners, however we will also be running some introduction workshops on Transactional Analysis and Neuro linguistic programming for anybody who is interested in learning about themselves whilst learning a bit of theory and having fun (of course). We will also be running some short focussed groups on weight loss, sleeping well and relaxation/mediations.

To register your interest and to offer ideas about workshops, please use the contact details below, or join us on facebook and twitter.

NEW Nightlink Texting ServiceNightlink emotional listening service, counselling, psychotherapy, in cornwall link

Nightlink is a free and confidential telephone listening service for anyone who is experiencing emotional distress.

Commencing in May 2010, NEST is Nightlink's brand newtext service. NEST offers similar emotional support to the helpline but by Text. This allows people who are perhaps a little nervous of calling the helpline to make first contact. It is hoped that in time they may utilise the helpline but there is no obligation to do so.

Both the telephone and the new texting service runs from 5pm until midnight every night of the week throughout the year.

NEW therapy group in St Austell

We will be starting two new therapy groups in the St Austell area. Group one will run for 2 hours on a weekly basis and will be for up to 8 people. Group two will also run for 2 hours and this will be on a fortnightly basis. Each group will cost £20 per person per group session(of course consessions are always available), They will typically run from 6.30pm - 8.30pm on a weekday and will be held at our new therapy centre here in Trewoon.

Group therapy is an excellent way to resolve any issue that you have within a safe environment, where not only have you got the support of a therapist; you also have the support of your peers within the group. Our main approach is Transactional Analysis which was originally developed to work effectively in groups where transactions can be played out and resolved whilst they are taking place, other approaches will include Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Gestalt therapy.

To join one of our groups, or if you would like more details please contact us.

Lose weight for 2009

Many of you may have thought about a resolution to keep fit/healthy for 2009 (apparently it's one of the most common new years resolution). Unfortunately over 90% of you will have gone back to doing your normal fitness routine (if any) within 6 months.

Come along to one of our new 'Life Group's, which will be using a combination of therapy, education, theories and practical exercises (not the physical kind) to help you lose weight, and make changes to the way you view food, yourself and exercise.

The groups are expected to be held in St Austell, Bodmin and Truro, although if there are enough people (5 or more) wanting a group in a particular area on a particular date etc, then we will do our best to get one up and running for you. As always, the first group will be free, with refreshments provided. Otherwise each group will cost £15.00 for 2 hours. Of course there will be a concessionary rate for those on benefits, and this can be assessed on our first meeting.

More information about the group can be found here, or you could just give us a ring and speak with one of us personally.

Updated website

You may have noticed that the website was getting a bit old, I was unable to update it as my website provider had stopped supporting my previous website building software. I have been moving everything across to a new software and it will now be updated regularly. Ongoing Support have also purchased a subscription to iclipart for their artwork, and I am sure you will agree that the cartoons look great!

Please be patient if you do come across a 'under construction' page, I am re-doing the site bit-by-bit on a daily basis, so it shouldn't be too long before all pages are up and running.

Not sure which pages have been updated ... visit our calendar to see new pages as I update them.

Any feedback on the site would be much appreciated, also if you think something is missing, or if you would like to add something (a link, article etc) please feel free to contact me.
