What are 'Life Groups'?

Life Groups will give you the opportunity to get together with others on a regular basis and ...

• Share stories and experiences
• Feel less isolated and alone with your issues
• Meet others in similar situations, dealing with similar issues
• Deal with both long-term and short-term problems
• Learn new ways to cope with daily issues
• Learn new strategies to deal with your life
• Gain information on a variety of topics and issues
• Get some immediate support
• Increase your self-confidence and self-esteem
• Feel safe, supported and acknowledged
• Enjoy a cuppa and meet some new friends

 

Life Groups are:

• Confidential and supportive
• Designed around the needs of the individuals attending
• Semi-structured and both educational and therapeutic
• For two and half hours, including a refreshment break
• Run by professional facilitators
• Run alongside a creche (if needed)
• Evaluated using a national recognised system (CORE)
• For up to fifteen people (large group)
• For up to eight people (small group)
• £15.00 per group for individuals in employment or £5-£10 for individuals on benefits

How can I attend a Life Group?

You can either contact us directly, or a healthcare professional (Social Worker, Health Visitor, Doctor etc) may refer you to us - being referred to us will not mean that confidential information is given to the referring Health Care Professionals, and confidentiality will always be maintained (accept by law).

We will then place your details down on our database, and meet with you to find out what sort of support you want, before you attend your first group. We realise that seeking support can be difficult for some, and we will support you in a friendly and non-judgemental way throughout.
